Bob Jennings has been writing since his high school days in Texas City, Texas.
Following graduation from Texas A&M in 1965, Bob worked for Ford Motor Company in Louisville,
Kentucky where he was a safety engineer, industrial relations rep and process engineer. After
transferring to Detroit, Michigan in 1974, he began to travel extensively while he worked as a
manufacturing engineer, section supervisor and corporate paint emissions coordinator. Due to a
personal family tragedy in 1981, Bob made a career change to PPG Industries, Inc. With PPG, he
worked in automotive coatings and general industrial coatings. Bob likes to say he had a tough time
passing freshman chemistry and wound up working in the coatings field where he used chemistry
almost every day. Bob’s strong mechanical aptitude served him well in his engineering assignments
and as a technical service representative.
Most of Bob’s writings during his working career were mostly of a technical nature. Due to time
constraints and an extensive travel schedule, writing for pleasure was kept to the occasional poem or
short story.
After leaving corporate America in 1996, Bob began an extensive re-education in English grammar
and writing via the Internet. His passion for things technical led him to spend hours browsing the net
and reading. There have been several successes in writing contests. He still has the first $100 check
he received as first prize in a writing contest in the year 2000. Rather than cash the check, he chose
to use it as motivation to continue a career in writing. Writing began as an idol curiosity, but has now
become a true passion.
This first novel began in 2002 as a writing exercise “just to see if I can.” The original manuscript, has
undergone numerous revisions. As a “first novel,” Bob wanted to make it as perfect as possible.
Through the encouragement of friends and family Bob finally found the courage to submit the
manuscript for publication.
Bob married his high school sweetheart in 1963, and they have two adult children. They are blessed
with five grandchildren to date. His family has provided the inspiration for several short stories and
numerous poems.
